Health & Safety Manager Wins Top Safety Award


‘And the winner is….’

John Camp, H, S, Q & E Manager for Cleshar Contract Services Limited has been presented with the 2011 Wing Award for safety by Steve Yianni – Director of Engineering at Network Rail at the Railway Industry Innovation Awards on 24 June 2011 in London.

The Award was in recognition of John’s commitment, contribution and unwavering efforts and enthusiasm in striving for ever higher standards and awareness of safety.

John had been nominated by Hugh McAnaw, Director of Rail and Mark Bayes, HSQE Director for his outstanding personal effort and commitment to improving safety on the railway. This view was endorsed by the judges who selected John as the winner and also recognised the efforts of everyone in the organisation with regards to safety.

The Wing Award for Safety

The Wing Award is an industry wide award for Safety. It was introduced in 1994 to commemorate the life and work of the late Peter Wing who was an Institution of Rail Signalling Engineers Fellow and an employee of British Rail. During his career he made a major contribution to the cause of line-side safety. Those who are eligible for this award are innovative, promote awareness and have made an outstanding contribution to the vital business of line-side safety.
